Sesame Chicken


Sesame Chicken is somewhat similar to General Tso's chicken but the taste of this Chinese-based chicken recipe is mildly sweet rather than spicy. However you can cook it spicy if you love your dish to be spicy.



Since this is not a typical copycat recipe I've cooked it mildly spicy as I like it that way only.  Paired this with my version of  mixed fried rice and trust me this combo has been my favourite.
It is basically a Chinese inspired dish made with deep fried chicken pieces coated in a sweet, tangy sauce (in my case mildly spicy too) that may be served with vegetables like broccoli and baby corn or you can use the basic bellpeppers and onions.
Listen! this is your recipe and you can add anything you wanna add.
So without any further delay let's jump into the recipe 😉


INGREDIENTS-

•500gm boneless skinless chicken breasts cut into 1 pieces as per your choice

•1egg beaten

•salt and pepper to taste
• 4 tablespoon cornstarch

•Oil for frying

• 2 tablespoon soy sauce

FOR THE SAUCE-

• 1teaspoon vegetable oil

•1 teaspoon minced fresh garlic

•5/6 tablespoon honey

•Half Cup soy sauce 

•1/2 cup ketchup

•1 tablespoon toasted sesame oil

• 1 teaspoon cornstarch

•1 tablespoon sesame seeds

• 1teaspoon green chilly sauce

•1 tablespoon sliced green onions


INSTRUCTIONS-

•Place the eggs, salt and pepper in a bowl. Stir to combine all the ingredients well.

•Place the flour and 4 tablespoons of cornstarch in a bowl or on a plate. Stir to combine into a fine mix.

•Dip each piece of chicken into the egg mixture, then into the flour. Repeat the process with all of the chicken.

•Heat half cup of oil in a deep pan.

•Add the chicken pieces to the pan. Fry until crispy and golden brown. Repeat the process with the remaining chicken

•Drain the chicken on paper towels and soak the oil.

•While the chicken is cooking, combine the honey, soy sauce, ketchup, green chilly sauce, rice vinegar, sesame oil and 1 teaspoon of cornstarch in a bowl.

•Heat the teaspoon of oil in a large pan over medium heat. Add the garlic and cook for a few seconds. Add the honey sauce mixture and bring to a simmer. Cook for 3-4 minutes or until just thickened.

•Add the crispy chicken to the pan and toss to coat with the sauce. Sprinkle with sesame seeds and green onions, then serve.

This was my version of Sesame Chicken and I just love it this way only.
